Leadership Development Simulations: Practical Leadership
Scenario l Questions l Environment l Experience l Team l Workshop l Agenda
The Scenario
15 to 18 people have been commissioned to compose a musical score for a soon to be released major motion picture. The team has 1 day to develop its vision, build and organize itself, compose, perform and record its original piece of music for the movie trailer being released next week. This is the first time the team members have ever met each other, and there are no musicians on the team. In addition, none of them have any experience scoring music for movies.
The Questions
- Would you be willing to take on this seemingly impossible challenge?
- What if you were given the tools and a proven structure to guarantee your success with this scenario?
- And what if you could apply this rapid high-performance team development model immediately back in your workplace?
- Would you accept this 1-day challenge to experience what most teams or organizations may never be able to achieve in a lifetime?
The Environment
Have you experienced a Significant Emotional Event (SEE)? A SEE is an event that impacts us in such a significant way that it stays with us for the rest of our lives. Many in this workshop will likely experience a SEE. You and your team will by composing, performing and recording an original piece of music. No musical experience is necessary. The Magna Leadership team will provide the structure, the instruments and musical consultants. You will provide the ideas and bring them to life with the magic of computers and electronics.
The Experience
This is not a workshop in musical composition. We utilize the emotional power of music to provide a visible and audible demonstration for implementing a “sound” vision. The day consists of a series of varied sequences carefully managed by the Magna Leadership team. These sequences demonstrate the workshop’s key leadership and management concepts, necessary for the team’s success, through sight and sound, followed by exercises and discussions. Your team will transform these ideas into real music.
The Team
The Magna Leadership team will host for the workshop. This team brings you over 75 years of combined experience in management/leadership development and practice, musical composition and performance, as well as computer and software technology expertise. You will get to experience through sight and sound the power of what happens when a team, faced with a seemingly impossible task, organizes around a shared vision and purpose.
The Workshop
This is a full day (8am to 5pm), with a class size is limited to 12 to 18 participants. The class will be divided into sub-teams of 5 to 6 people that will work with 1 of the Magna musicians for the day. You will become expert in your “section” roles as a percussionist, keyboardist or guitarist/bassist. This workshop is intensely interactive.
